The following are examples of duties performed by a medical assistant:

  • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
  • Taking vital signs
  • Drawing blood
  • Assisting with diagnostic tests
  • Updating/filing medical records
  • Process of making and administering drugs
  • Filling out insurance forms
  • Processing insurance claims
  • Scheduling appointments

Medical assistants are required in a variety of healthcare settings, from pediatric practices to nursing homes, if staffing goals are to be met and patients have a positive experience. Our goal is to provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a variety of settings as medical assistants.

The National Healthcare Association (NHA) offers an exam for students to become Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA). After the medical assistant externship is over, Abcott Institute picks up the tab. Students are supplied with study aids as part of their tuition to guarantee that they are on the right road to professional excellence.
